Chasing waterfalls

I love hikes. It’s tail wagging fun. My family takes me on many. Sometimes I encounter squirrels to chase. Bunnies here and there. I like that a lot. I can be speedy when I have something to chase. Sticks are good too. Here’s something new I learned that are super fun to chase.

Waterfalls!

We took a short car ride to get to this hike. I am not so crazy about car rides. Except when my whole family is together. If only one person is in the car I am in trouble. We are going somewhere where they poke and prod me or where they cut my hair. Either way, bad news. But for this car ride we were all together so I was ok. When I hopped out of the car it smelled good. Fresh. Piney.

It was rainy so I got a bit wet. I usually don’t like that. But this path was different. I was excited to keep walking. I was going faster than my family so I had to stop often to make sure they were with me. They only have two legs. I had to let them catch up.

The path became rocky. I bounded up and over the rocks. Again, much faster than my family. I have four sturdy paws. I only slipped once. There was a roar. Not like a bear. So I wasn’t scared. I was curious what all the noise was about. Something was running fast. So I ran fast too! I went to the edge of the rocks and peered over. Perked my ears. They were pretty wet at this point but working just fine.

The water was running fast!

I can’t believe this was the first time my family took me here. A waterfall! Oh, it was exhilarating. The water splashing over rocks. Swirling. The loud noise. Gushing. We climbed higher on the rocky path. Up and up. Hmm, maybe that’s why it’s called High Falls? I chased it all the way to the top. At the very top the water was calm. It was like it was waiting to crash over the big rocks. Funny how I couldn’t really hear the roaring water there. And I have good hearing.

What an adventure it was! On the way back there was a small lake. It was the perfect size for me. I was so excited from chasing the waterfall I chased a stick into the water. I don’t usually like to get in water. I like my four legs touching the ground, thank you. But my ears were already wet. The waterfall made me brave. Still, I am glad we didn’t see a bear on the way back. The only roar I heard was the roaring waterfall.

Non-stop tailing wagging fun.
