For the love of snow
Did I tell you I love snow? Well, I do. I love it. I get so excited when I feel the cold fluffy snow under my paws. And guess what? We have snow this winter!
The snow is good for tobogganing. But I leave that for the kids. I can go fast enough all on my own, thank you. No equipment required. My family seems to slow down on snowy paths. Not me. The snow is my turbo speed.
I went to this long snowy beach the other day. I really picked up some speed. It was exhilarating. I was bouncing. Jumping. Spinning. Some two legged people asked my family “Does your dog like the snow?” Like it?! I love it!
I do not love salt though. Ouch. It stings. I have to stop walking. A complete halt. I raise my sore paw so my family knows which one hurts. They come to my rescue, rubbing the paw clean with their glove or their warm hand. Relief. I give them a thank you lick. With that inconvenience over it’s back to fun in the snow.
Snow glorious snow.
My little nose (some say it’s cute) is highly tuned to scents. Snow gives my nose an extra challenge. Challenge…accepted! I nuzzle my nose deep in the fluff to find the scent. No problem, I can still track you bunny! I don’t mind that my nose gets covered in soft snow. It tickles.
I lick it off. A snowy treat.
I have “quite a wardrobe” as one neighbour commented. A soft Christmas PJ. A cozy hoodie. A camouflage jacket (I do not like the loud sound of the Velcro!). But my favourite is my hockey jersey. I have been a fan since day 1. I don’t mean since the year 1909, of course. I mean, like, I got it before my first haircut. My friend Willy had a blue one. We would tussle sometimes. All in good fun. Not a ‘gloves off’ situation. We were best buddies. I miss him. I can’t really fault his jersey choice. I mean, us dogs, we don’t dress ourselves.
And quite frankly I don’t need any of these winter outfits. My hair is thick. It keeps me warm. But, as I said, I don’t dress myself. It’s my family. Who can blame them? I look good in everything.
Snow. Enjoy it while it lasts! So. Much. Fun.
