Why did I start this blog?
I love to walk and explore new places, at home and abroad. That’s the short answer. Peripatetic me likes to walk about.
But I need to carve out space in my life to make this happen: to explore local destinations and to meet some larger travel goals.
When I read this article 8 ways to reclaim your life, I was hooked. A nice tidy list! For someone like me who likes structure, it is so appealing. In fact, I am already trying to work on many of the items, to varying degrees of success.
What is this master list, you ask? It’s a nice quick read, I urge you to take a look for yourself. For me, the concepts resonate.
I am decluttering and feel a burden lifted. I search out solitude and savour my alone time. I am happily reminiscing about my youthful travels after discovering my old travel journals (a treasure amongst my clutter). Reminiscing led me to try writing. Due to health reasons, I am resting more. I try to unplug from Social Media and cherish conversations. I am keen to continue working on all these approaches. Other items, namely travel to places I’ve always wanted to visit and try new things are still mainly aspirations, but I have the goals identified.
This blog is to keep me on track to… well… reclaim my life? Okay, let me try that again.
Reclaim my life!*
*with fist in the air
Now I am pumped.
For starters, writing this blog is a new challenge for me (try new things, check!). Setting travel goals is the other biggie (travel, check!). A “to do” list is immensely more satisfying with some check marks. Yah*
My goal is for the blog posts to be entertaining, and perhaps even inspirational (I know this is lofty goal, remember I am setting aspirations here!) As I embark on this journey, I welcome insights from my family and friends. Please share your thoughts with me.
Thank you for reading.
