Year in Review

It’s been a year since my first post when I created this blog.

Perhaps it’s my government policy training that compels me to look back over the year to assess progress and identify highlights….or simply remember what I did!

I started out by setting goals for myself, including trying new things and travelling more. The year took an unexpected turn (for all of us) so expectations needed to shift. My ‘highlights’ below were not necessarily planned at the outset, yet I feel better for them. I was fortunate to have time to:

  • Become fully acquainted with the natural surroundings and hidden gems on my local paths and trails (even the lichen!)
  • Meet some neighbours for the first time
  • Read (and reread) some thoughtful travel books leading me to rethink my travel goals to emphasize sustainability and plan longer trips to explore lesser known places
  • Plant a little garden for the first time and learn about garden pests – we are still enjoying its bounty with some green tomatoes ripening in the basement
  • Peruse my old travel journals, linger over the photos and create some photo albums
  • Figure out how to connect multiple devices to the wi-fi without crashing while we all work and study at home!

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. I love hearing when a post triggers a memory for you, whether it was the time you ate raclette in Switzerland, listened to Gregorian chants in Florence, played boardgames at the cottage or dug up your own youthful travel journal.

We all have our memories stored away in our minds. They often waft into our present, but sometimes a little nudge can help retrieve them.

Thank you for joining me through the seasons and looking forward to the year to come!
