    Joyful Caramel

It’s Caramel here. You know I love to run fast and jump high. My legs are not long, but they are springy. I bet I would be good at Hurdle Jumps. I get good air. I can leap up 3 stairs at once. Easy. I can stop super fast too. I skid to a halt, point my nose in a new direction, and bam, I am off again. That’s how I am so good at chasing squirrels out of my yard. You might say it’s my super-power. Put a cape on me and I could fly. Get this? Now when I get ready to run or jump, my family yells…

    Whole-hearted Caramel

I love to go for walks. The scent of squirrel in the air, grass to tickle my paws, sticks to pick up. So many things get me excited to bounce out the front door. There’s also a practical necessity for a walk but we don’t need to go there. TMI. Do you know one big reason I love walks? If you have ever met me on the street, you do. I LOVE people. My tail wags vigorously when I see a nice two legged person. My tail does not lie. This is not pretend joy. It comes from my heart. Tail wagging lets them know I am happy. Friendly. It’s…

    Chasing waterfalls

I love hikes. It’s tail wagging fun. My family takes me on many. Sometimes I encounter squirrels to chase. Bunnies here and there. I like that a lot. I can be speedy when I have something to chase. Sticks are good too. Here’s something new I learned that are super fun to chase. Waterfalls! We took a short car ride to get to this hike. I am not so crazy about car rides. Except when my whole family is together. If only one person is in the car I am in trouble. We are going somewhere where they poke and prod me or where they cut my hair. Either way,…

    Summer snow

It’s snowing in my backyard. The white fluffy petals tickle my nose. It smells nice. Nothing like those pesky squirrels. I don’t like how they smell…or how they look at me from their perch on top of the fence. It’s my turf. It’s Caramel territory. About this snow. I was a bit startled. Not bad startled like when a raccoon walks along the fence. More curiously startled like when small birds rustle in the bushes. I needed to sniff around. Investigate quietly. Sniff, Sniff. No barking or growling. It turns out the “snowflakes” are blossoms. Tiny white blossoms falling from the big tree. Phew. I am not ready for winter.…

    The Optimist

It’s that time of year. The squirrels are fat. Slower. One of these days I will catch one. The white fluffy stuff comes and goes. I can curl up in front of the fireplace. It’s toasty. Other than some salt on my paws, it’s been another tail wagging year. My family was home a lot again though there were more comings and goings than last year. Oh let me tell you about one new coming and going! One of my family (the one who lets me sleep in her bed) goes somewhere new. Somewhere magical. When she comes home her shoes are all meaty smelling. A most delightful aroma. I…

    Canine University

I don’t like to brag. I don’t want to make a lot of noise, or howl, or stick out my chest (except for a belly rub). But listen up. I know things. Life affirming type of things. You may have heard that having a dog can make you happy. Do you know why? I do. I live by it. It’s me Caramel. You haven’t heard from me in a while. Sorry about that. I would say I have been busy, but that’s not true. I’ve just been living. Quite happily. This is why it’s best if I take over today’s post: how dogs make you happy. For starters, I will…

    A dog’s point of view

This was a good year for me. My whole family was home! All. The. Time. I went for so many walks, nice long ones. There was always someone around to scratch my back …or my belly …or under my ears. Oohhh yaahhh. Let me explain. I’m Caramel. They also call me Pooche or Poochie pie. Whatever they call me, I perk my ears so they know I am paying attention. Sometimes they merge it all together in a squeaky noise like Caramelmylittlepoochiepie while they tussle my ears. This is usually my cue they need some comforting. I look into their eyes, tilt my head to one side and raise my…
